NFL

The National Football League, or NFL, is the name of the most popular and lucrative league of football in the United States. It is the NFL, though, that has turned football into America’s real game. With rising attendance and television ratings, the league has become a juggernaut in the making of money and the making of celebrity. With that in mind, take a look at what the NFL is really all about.

The Making Of A Juggernaut

The NFL has become popular because those in charge of the league know how to keep it relavent no matter what time of year it is. For instance, here are a few examples.

There is of course, the Super Bowl at the end of the season. The Super Bowl and the regular season keep the NFL in the news for obvious reasons. However, it is what the NFL does the rest of the year that keeps it in the public conciousness, on the radio, and on television.

Once the Super Bowl ends, the NFL has a slight break in action. However, magazines, websites, and sports news outlets start their mock drafts right away. For instance, it was only a few days after the 2006-2007 Super Bowl, the 2007 NFL mock drafts were out.

Of course, at that same time, the NFL has other things going on. The NFL combine in Indianapolis is a place for the scouts of teams to take a look at the prospects available in the upcoming draft. It has, though, a huge effect on the public as well. It is now televised and talked about for the entire week.

Next, of course, is the NFL draft. The NFL draft has become the standard by which all professional sports drafts are measured. It is talked about for weeks leasing up and then televised for two straight days.

Finally, whether you are a fan of the NFL Colts, Saints, or any team in between, you know that mini camps start. After mini camps are training camps and first cuts. Before you know it, the season is back on. The NFL knows how to stay relavent.

A Machine

As you can see, the NFL has built a year round sport. Of course, that does not even take into acound the marketing. NFL cheerleaders appear all over the place, there are NFL jerseys, NFL golf balls, and pretty much anything that can have an NFL logo does. So no matter which way you look at it, the NFL is a big part of American culture and with their marketing there is no sign of that changing any time soon.
