NFC

On one side of the NFL conference layout is the National Football Conference, or NFC. Inside the NFL structure, the NFC is one of the two participants in the Super Bowl as well as in the Pro Bowl. It exists as part of the NFL, but also as its own. With that in mind, take a look at what the NFC is and what it does within the NFL framework.

The Playoffs

The NFC, like its counterpart the AFC, has its own playoffs. This allows the Super Bowl to have one team from each conference. The NFC champions are determine by a tournament of NFC east champions, NFC west champs, and the wild card. These teams compete until reaching the NFC championship game.

Winning the NFC championship, though, is about more than just a 2006 NFC champions flag. Instead, it means a chance at the Super Bowl and a possible world championship. That is just one of the reasons that the NFC is important. Additionally, it offers fans something to cheer about with their team: the NFC championship.

The History

The NFC has a rich history. Whether you are looking at the 2006 NFC champions Chicago Bears or the simply checking out the NFC playoffs going back decades, there is plenty to look at. You can look at which NFC teams have won the Super bowl as well as which teams have been NFC East Champions or NFC west champs.

Marketing

Just like it markets itself, the NFL also markets it conferences. The NFC is no diifferent. If you are a fan of an NFC team, you probably already know what is available to show your support. You could get yourself a Chicago Bears NFC champion hat, a New Orleans Saints 2006 NFC South Division Champions hat, or any number of NFC hats, shirts, and even golf balls. There is pretty much as much merchandise out there for the NFC as you could want.

Honors

The other side of the NFC is, of course, the honors. Every year, an NFC rookie of the year, NFC MVP, and even an NFC pro bowl team are announced. This expands the number of honors available since there are also AFC chances as well as NFL rookies and valuable players.

As you can see, there is plenty to like if you are a fan of the NFC. You have your own playoff, your own merchandise, and even your own honors. So if you love the NFL, then go ahead and dare to love your conference as well. The AFC and NFC are the first step for your teamon its way to the Super Bowl.
