2007 Super Bowl Ads

For starters 2007 Super Bowl ads were slightly more expensive than in year's passed at a price of 2.6 million dollars for 30 seconds of advertising. Talk about first impressions! However, in considering the final price of 2007 Super Bowl ads you have to remember that CBS offers discounts to advertisers in various packages. Therefore, as CNN reported, the average price to advertisers after discounts was about 1.8 to 2 million dollars. Though 2007 Super Bowl ads sold to overseas advertisers, these 30 second spots were mainly targeting an American audience since Super Bowl ads are usually not seen in other countries. (Even the Super Bowl game itself is not as immensely popular outside of America)

Consumers Help Made 2007 Super Bowl Ads

2007 Super Bowl ads included ads from the usual suspects such as Anheuser Busch, CareerBuilder, General Motors and Coca Cola. Another company to join the 2-million dollar elite club was Go Daddy, an Internet company. 2007 Super Bowl TV ads were set apart from previous years because of a heavily hyped campaign that allowed consumers to be involved in the creation of Super Bowl ads. Frito-Lay announced plans to have the public submit ads for Doritos brand and vote on the best one. In the end Doritos aired two of the finalists due to close voting for 2007 Super Bowl ads. Winning consumers received $10,000 for their enthusiasm. (And a big of chips, hopefully?) General Motors also had a consumer campaign, open to college students, to conceptualize an ad that the company would professionally produce. Even the NFL jointed the fun, by opening a contest to consumers to help design promotional commercials. No wonder 2007 Super Bowl ads were so popular with consumers – consumers helped to make these 30 second wonders.
